故事无趣、节奏缓慢、动机俗套，Douglas Watkinson与Anthony Horowitz同为Midsomer最早的两位编剧，也同为波洛系列担当过编剧，他的两部波洛短篇《遗嘱失踪案》和《巧克力盒子》都改编得很精彩，但长篇改编和原创Watkinson还是比Horowitz略逊一筹。
